The Association between Obesity and Health-related Quality of Life Among Urban Latinos
Wanat KA, Kovarik CL, Shuman S, Whitaker RC, Foster GD, O'Brien MJ. The Association between Obesity and Health-related Quality of Life Among Urban Latinos. Ethn Dis. 2014 Winter;24(1):14-8.
The study examined the relationship between obesity and health-related quality of life (HRQL) in a group of urban Latinos. The findings suggest that obesity may have a minimal impact on HRQL in this population, with small and non-significant differences observed in physical functioning scores. Mental functioning scores were not significantly affected by obesity. The study also found that sex did not moderate the relationship between obesity and HRQL. Future research with larger and more diverse Latino populations is needed to further explore this association and the potential impact of acculturation.
