Utilization of a wireless monitoring device to perform non-stress tests in high-risk pregnancies from home

Hamm RF, Keren N, Reches A, Purnell J, McCabe M, Parry S, Schwartz N. Utilization of a wireless monitoring device to perform non-stress tests in high-risk pregnancies from home. Am J Obstet Gynecol, Oct 2023, 29:4, 463-464.
The study evaluated a new remote, self-administered maternal-fetal monitoring device (INVU) as a potential alternative to traditional in-office non-stress tests (NSTs) for high-risk pregnancies. The researchers wanted to determine if INVU is clinically interpretable and user-friendly for patients to use at home. The study found that the remote maternal-fetal monitoring device (INVU) was highly effective and safe for patients to use at home for non-stress tests (NSTs). Over 90% of remote NSTs were clinically usable, and nearly 90% of NST appointments were completed without requiring an in-clinic evaluation. The device also showed excellent safety and was easy for patients to use. The study suggests that INVU could be a valuable tool for improving access to prenatal care and perinatal outcomes.
