The CEAR Core believes in the importance of disseminating knowledge to other researchers, public officials, and community members. Cores Day
CEAR Core staff presented at Cores Day on September 25, 2024. Cores Day featured presentations about core facilities at the Perelman School of Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and The Wistar Institute.
Community Engagement Matters 2024
This event was part of Clinical Research Week (May 20- 24), which celebrated Penn Medicine’s unwavering support of the >1,200 Clinical Research Professionals and recognized their contributions. Karen Glanz featured the projects and studies that her center has lead or contributed to that focus on community health.
Research Readiness Day 2024
CEAR Core Senior Research Project Manager Krista Scheffey, MPH, MSW presented at Research Readiness Day in February 2024. Her presentation included updates to our Community Partner Training. This annual event provides training and networking opportunities to community leaders who are interested in partnering with local researchers, and is co-sponsored by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Drexel University, Temple University College of Public Health, La Salle University, Thomas Jefferson University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Ethical issues in community-based research
On February 3, 2020, CEAR Core Director, Karen Glanz, PhD, MPH, presented “Ethical issues in the design and conduct of community-based research,” at the Penn Research Ethics and Policy Series (PennREPS) seminar. Dr. Glanz shared case studies on community-based research dilemmas, and questioned the audience on how they would handle the situation.
